# Fill/Overfill Couplings

> Lubrication is essential for gas turbine engines. Fill/overfill couplings allow for easily topping off the oil to make sure the oil tank or gearbox is full.

Turbine engines consume some oil during operation. The oil tank, reservoir, and gearbox need to be filled during routine service. A fill/overfill coupling makes it easier to top off the oil on commercial aircraft and those where the oil tank is not easily accessible. The fill coupling allows oil to be pumped into the oil tank. The overfill coupling allows any overfill of oil to return to the oil source. These couplings have quick disconnect and check valves so the tank does not drain. APPLICATIONS: This technology is used on gas turbine engine lubrication systems, on commercial and military aircraft, and those where the oil tank or gearbox is not easily accessible.
